You will most certainly be hearing this regularly between now and Election Day: Vice President Kamala Harris made history yet again, this time by ensuring the largest ever funding commitment in two days: $250 million. Future Forward, the Democratic Super Pac, committed $150 million to the Democratic Party and individual donors contributed another $100 million. Those funds come on top of the $96 million from the former Biden campaign.

But the news followed two major conference calls NewsOne reported earlier today–one on Sunday night for an audience of Black women, and one on Monday night for Black men. The two calls, which primarily sought to encourage people to vote and explain the electoral process, brought in more than $2 million from everyday folks.

More, a Yahoo News poll released late this morning found that Harris’ numbers are dead even with Trump’s: 46% to 46%.

From Yahoo News:

As for the general election, Harris (46%) is currently tied with Trump (46%) among registered voters in a hypothetical matchup. Immediately before withdrawing, Biden (45%) was tied with Trump (45%) as well.

But compared to the president, Harris performs three points better among women, seven points better among Americans aged 18 to 29, seven points better among independents, eight points better among Black Americans and 13 points better among those who view both Biden and Trump unfavorably (so-called “double haters”).

The story followed CNBC’s report last night that:

In the hours since President Joe Biden announced that he would end his teetering reelection campaign, Harris and the Democratic party have pulled in roughly $250 million in online donations and major donor commitments.

The Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue has processed $106 million in contributions to Democratic candidates since Biden dropped out, according to an automated tracker.

None of this should be a surprise.

In 2020, when Biden announced that Harris would be his running mate, funds surged. Back then, the nonprofit, nonpartisan and award-winning website, OpenSecrets.org, reported the fundraising prowess the then-vice presidential nominee brought to Biden’s team. OpenSecrets.org is said to be “the most comprehensive resource for campaign contributions, lobbying data and analysis available anywhere…”

So it seems that this is where we are: For anyone who worried that Vice President Harris would not be viable against Donald Trump–who is a major fundraiser himself, but who also filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on six separate occasions–here are the seven powerful words:

Relax. Black women have always saved America.
