
FLINT, Mich. — Communities First, Inc. is proud to present the 11th Annual African American Film Series, a beloved cultural event that brings powerful storytelling and community dialogue to the heart of Flint.
In partnership with the Flint Institute of Arts, this free monthly series showcases films by African American creatives that inspire, inform, and entertain.
Held at the Flint Institute of Arts (1120 E. Kearsley St.), each screening begins with a complimentary dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by the film at 6:45 p.m.
Guests are also invited to explore the museum’s galleries before the show.
After each screening, Communities First hosts a live panel discussion featuring local leaders, industry professionals, and sometimes members of the film’s production team.
The upcoming schedule includes:
- November 13– The Fire Inside
- December 18– Sing Sing
- January 15- Lowndes County and the Road to Black Power
- February 12– James Hemings: Ghost in America’s Kitchen
Each film selected for the series highlights the richness of African American experiences and contributions to the arts, while fostering meaningful conversations around social justice, history, and identity.
