LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – The National Society of Black Engineers will be hosting its second annual Hackathon at McNeese on Saturday, Feb. 8.
The Hackathon, themed “Campus and Beyond”, aims at promoting creativity in technology and finding technology-based solutions to real-life problems. It showcases student’s critical thinking, innovative prowess, and problem-solving abilities.
Competing teams of 2 to 4 people will be working on hacking challenges. No coding is required to participate and students from all majors are invited.
Prizes include:
- 1st Place – 24-inch desktops and gaming chairs
- 2nd Palce – Sony noise-cancelling headphones
- 3rd Place – Mini projector with screens
It all starts at 8 a.m. with Mayor Nic Hunter expected to speak at the event around noon.
