Every single day, Candace Owens makes it a point to disrespect Black people to satisfy her following, and she managed to reach yet another new low: Owens defended the police officer who fatally shot Sonya Massey, and Cardi B had a few things to say about it.

On the latest episode of her show, Owens said that former Sangamon County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Grayson shooting Massey to death in her Illinois home was simply a “mistake.”
“Police officers are human beings, there are mistakes that happen,” Owens stated. “The idea that now you’re going to use this situation…to then try to make Black Americans believe that this happened simply because she was Black, is pointedly ridiculous.”
Cardi B took to X Spaces to address Owens’ remarks, which the rapper labeled “so disturbing.” “For you to sit here and say that ‘Oh not everything is racial. I know that this is sad, but this is not something racial,” the “Bongos” artist said. “There’s more white people that get killed by the cops’…Girl shut up.”
“You don’t feel one little bit of empathy, a little bit of sympathy of how this woman died? He knew in the back of his head because she was a Black woman that he was going to get away with it. Not only did he think that, but the department thought that because they didn’t tell her son or her father that a cop shot her.”
Cardi finished with an ominous warning for Owens: “This could be you one day and it could be actually worse because you the type of person that if a cop stop you, you would get sassy at the mouth.”
Owens, of course, ignoried the fact that Black Americans disproportionately die at the hands of law enforcement. In addition, she seemingly glazed over the fact Grayson has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and official misconduct.
This isn’t the first time Owens has villainized Black victims of police brutality. In 2022, she made a documentary called “The Greatest Lie Ever Sold” defaming George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement.
If Grayson is convicted of his chargers, he could receive 45 years to life in prison.
