WASHINGTONLena Zwarensteyn, senior director of the fair courts program at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, released the following statement after the Senate’s vote to confirm Judge J. Michelle Childs to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit:

“Judge Childs has demonstrated her fair-minded approach to the law and commitment to the rights of all people throughout her judicial experience. Notably, she would be the fourth Black woman to ever sit on the D.C. Circuit. Our judiciary needs judges who represent and reflect the vast diversity of our nation, and those perspectives are essential for robust and informed decision making. We applaud the Senate for confirming Judge Childs to this seat.”
